Inauguration Day: Live Updates

8:30 PM, January 20

President Biden has been busy since his taking the oath of office. First, the President and Vice President visited Arlington National Cemetery, along with the still living former Presidents, with the exception of Donald Trump (who left for Florida) and Jimmy Carter (who could not attend the events).

President Biden later heads off to the White House, as VP Harris heads off to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, where many of the VP’s staff works (CNN). Joe Biden signed many executive orders in his first day in office. Those notably included rejoining the Paris Climate Accord and rejoining the World Health Organization (WHO).

At the first Biden White House briefing, the new White House Press Secretary showed that the President worked on COVID, economic relief, climate, racial equality, LGBTQ, and ensuring government works for the American people. We can expect to hear her press conferences daily during the week. Celebrating America is at 8:30PM hosted by Tom Hanks. More live updates to come in the next few days as the Biden administration rolls out its first days.

10:45 AM

President Trump left Washington on Air Force One for the last time in his presidency, and is headed to Florida, where he will live. He spoke before his flight about the accomplishments of his presidency, and flipped the negative note of the Nation’s crisis to a positive vote, not reflecting on the pandemic. He also did not mention the name of the President-Elect officially. President Trump will not attend the inauguration.

President-Elect Biden has just arrived at the capital after attending the morning church service before the inauguration. Senators, Congressmen, ambassadors and more have already poured onto Capitol Hill. The President- Elect is currently in the Capital, and will be sworn in. Less than 90 minutes from now, America will have a new President.

The Senate will meet at 4:30 PM today, most likely swearing in Senators Elect Raphael Wornock and Jon Ossoff and discussing further actions for impeachment.

Celebrate America will be a concert hosted by Tom Hanks tonight to honor the new President. It will happen at 8:30, and our live updates will continue through that time.
