Thus far, 2024 has been a year filled with new album releases from trending artists, and there are many to come in the months ahead. Much of the music industry is shaped by consistently popular artists, such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Ariana Grande. However, there are also new artists who have made their mark more recently like Conan Gray and SZA. Regardless of the artist, there are many songs to look forward to in the rest of this year, including already released songs that have become number one hits.
For the first time in nearly four years, Ariana Grande has come out with a new album that put her back in the Billboard 200 albums chart. On January 12, she released the highly anticipated single, “yes and?” which immediately received a lot of attention. This single gave her fans a sneak peek at the style of her album which seemed to be well-liked even prior to the album’s official release. Her album Eternal Sunshine has received 200 million streams since its release on March 8, and the numbers continue to grow.
Just a few weeks after Eternal Sunshine came out, Beyoncé released her album called Cowboy Carter. Unlike most of her other pop albums, this album features a side of country that has never been seen from Beyoncé. Her album has already broken a huge record on Spotify – the streaming service has announced that before the first 24 hours of its release, it was the most-streamed album in a day (thus far in 2024). This came as no surprise as Beyoncé attracts over 74 million listeners each month on just Spotify alone. Beyoncé fans are very impressed with this unique style of music that is very different from her usual approach.
Although Conan Gray only started releasing music in 2020, his following has grown rapidly. This April he will be releasing his third studio album called Found Heaven. During February, he showed fans two of the album’s singles: “Alley Rose”, and “Lonely Dancer”. These songs alone have received millions of views and have given fans high expectations for what is to come. Conan fans are eager to listen to his new album which will be released on April 5. In the months following his album, he will be going on tour for the fifth time since the start of his music career.
The month of April will also see a new album from Taylor Swift titled, The Tortured Poets Department. Swifties are ecstatic to be receiving this album in addition to The Eras Tour (Taylors Version) movie that was released on Disney+ March 14. Considering how significant Taylor Swift is in the development music industry, this album will likely receive immense support on its release date, April 19.
Grammy winner Meghan Trainor has revealed that her sixth studio album called Timeless is going to arrive on June 14 via Epic Records. Throughout the past few years, Trainor has had many trending songs that became widespread through TikTok. Songs such as “I Made You Look” and “I Am Your Mother” have shaped many popular social media trends in the past few years. Fans of Meghan Trainor are hoping to receive another song that emulates a similar vibe to her most recent releases.
Lastly, SZA will be coming out with an album called Lana which is meant to be a deluxe edition to her previous album SOS. She revealed that due to leaks surrounding her album, it is expected to come out later than she anticipated, likely during or after summer. SZA grew to fame after collaborating with Drake and other popular artists, but she has grown her own individual music that fans want to see with this new album.
There are many more artists that are either developing new music, or releasing it in the next duration of 2024. These are just some of the more notable artists who have certainly made an impact on both the music industry and social media trends. The music field has seen such a variety of different music styles and will continue to receive top hits with the albums being released in the next few months.
