The FLHS Music Department is proud to announce that from March 20th to March 24th, they will be traveling to Disney World in Florida to participate in an exciting program for high school music students in orchestra, choir, and band. The trip will have 3 main aspects for students in each of the three strands: a concert, workshops, and lots of time with their friends in the Disney Parks.
There will be one concert for each of the three strands of the music department. The concert will be held at the Disney Springs Waterside Stage, which is positioned on a beautiful location at the edge of Lake Buena Vista. The students will perform a carefully curated and practiced program made up of 25 minutes of Disney music. Audience members will include parent chaperones, friends and family who have come to watch, and plenty of other Disney Spring guests lucky enough to stumble upon the music.
The day after the concerts, each ensemble will participate in a musical workshop run by Disney employees. The students will get to learn and participate in the workshop with a teacher who knows firsthand the magic and importance of music in the world of Disney. The workshop’s contents are a bit of a secret among students who have been on the trip before, but it’s certain that the activities will leave students with insider knowledge on the behind the scenes of music in Disney. The workshop is an exciting opportunity for the students to have fun, play their instruments, and learn what certain careers in music can look like!
The rest of the trip is all about having fun in the parks. Students will have tons of free time to explore and ride rides in the 4 parks. Students as well as their teachers get to do everything from eat their way around the world in Epcot to take a trip up Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom. The trip will give kids a chance to strengthen friendships and take their passion for music further than ever before.
All students, teachers, and chaperones will depart from school Thursday afternoon, embarking on a trip that leaves the absolute bare minimum amount of free time for sleep or anything else outside the itinerary. Students will follow rigorous but exciting schedules of non-stop fun and opportunities as they journey to the most magical place on Earth: Disney World!
