From child actor to international pop-star, 26 year old Sabrina Carpenter has taken over the world with her immense talent. During the past two years, her discography has gained traction all throughout the globe for her catchy melodies, and powerful lyrics containing topics of love, life, and empowerment.
At age 11, she made her acting debut when she appeared as a guest on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. From here, her career skyrocketed and in 2014, she landed the role of Maya Hart in Girl Meets World, which ran from 2014-2017.
Her first year starring in this Disney Channel series, she released her first EP, “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying.” Though it contained a short 4 songs, it gained positive reception, allowing Carpenter to put her foot through the door of the music industry, and even got her a Radio Disney Music Award in the category of Best Crush Song. From here, she would release her first full album, EVOLution in 2016, which was more than double the amount of songs from her previous work. Although it gained more positive reviews, it never got truly huge.
Carpenter released 5 more albums and EPs between 2016 and 2023, the most popular of the 5 being the 2022 EP “Emails I Can’t Send,” her first project with new label, Island Records, which was comprised of hits such as “Because I Liked a Boy” and “Nonsense,” which would go on to become more popular after its initial release. Though she wasn’t retaining much public attention, everything would drastically change in 2024.
Short n’ Sweet is the album people argue cemented Sabrina Carpenter’s spot as a big-time artist. With producing assistance from big names such as Jack Antonoff, and a title connecting to her physical height and duration of her previous relationships, this album includes 12 tracks, which explore further themes of these relationships.
Between the heartbreaking lyrics on “Lie to Girls” (“You don’t have to lie to girls. If they like you, they’ll just lie to themselves. Don’t I know it better than anyone else?”) and the catchy upbeat lyrics on the popular track “Espresso” (“Now he’s thinkin’ ’bout me every night, oh Is it that sweet? I guess so. Say you can’t sleep, baby, I know. That’s that me espresso”) both displaying a unique range of topics people could relate to upon listening.
This album became critically acclaimed, topping charts, getting billions of streams, and receiving six 2025 Grammy nominations, winning Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance. Another category among the six she was also nominated for was Best New Artist, which angered many, as they thought she had already been a “well-known artist,” and shouldn’t have been among other nominees, such as Chapell Roan, Doechii, and Benson Boone. However, Short n’ Sweet was her first album to have a significant breakthrough in the public eye, making her eligible for the award.
As far as live performances go, she accompanied Taylor Swift in the incredibly successful Eras Tour as her opening act, and her solo Short n’ Sweet Tour did, and continues to sell out some of the biggest concert venues in the world.
Her newest album Man’s Best Friend, released August 29th, 2025, has already taken over global charts, broken streaming records, and sold thousands of copies. When speaking about her relatively newfound success in an interview with Cosmopolitan, Carpenter states; “I never had the instant thing, which I feel very lucky about because I have a lot of experience,” displaying her grace and gratitude towards her fans and the music industry, even though it took almost ten years for her career to truly take off.
Now an incredibly popular mainstream artist, averaging around 76 Million monthly listeners on Spotify, Sabrina Carpenter is an unstoppable force who continuously displays her talent for the world to see, and won’t be stopping anytime soon.
